8th Grade Gift

Dear 8th Grade Parents,

As you may be aware, each year the 8th grade class gives a gift to the school. Money is collected from the parents to purchase something that leaves a lasting impression. In years past, classes have given money for the signs you see outside the school (by the gym and in the alleyway), crosses and last year money was used to purchase a digital camera.

For some time people have commented that there is no visual marking for the entrance to our campus. It has been suggested that an awning over the door in the alleyway would be a great addition to the building and a wonderful way to visually notify visitors to the entrance to St. Joe's Middle School.

The awning could be the gift given by the 8th grade class. Mrs. Rempe has contacted a company and they have provided a rendition of the awning. This rendition is below.

The cost of the awning is $1200. If each 8th grade family were to give $16.00 it would completely cover the cost. In no way are we requesting this amount of money from families, we are only pointing out that with 79 kids, it doesn't take too much to make this happen.

Please give only what you want, if you want to give at all. As parents, we thought that it is always easier to give to something specific. Mrs. Rempe began collecting last week (the bottom of the sheet talking about graduation fees had a place to add money for the 8th grade gift) but it was not mentioned what the gift may be. If you gave then, thank you. If you haven't given yet, check out the website and send your donation to the school office at your earliest convenience.

Thank you,
Linda Rice and Mary McNulty
