Waukesha Catholic Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to get involved in your child's school. Some functions are system wide. Some are particular to the individual campus. The system wide volunteer activities are explained in more detail under the "fundraiser" section of this web site.

System Wide Volunteer Opportunities

  • Auction - The largest fundraiser of the year requires the largest amount of volunteers. This is an exciting way to get involved in the school. Planning starts about a year in advance. You may take on a large or small role in this activity. The committees consist of donations, corporate sponsorship, decorations, and public relations. Call the Advancement Department (262-896-2929, ext. 326) to get involved.

  • Home and School Association - This organization consists of parents who want to contribute their time to Waukesha Catholic. The Home and School Association is active at each campus. The Executive Board consists of the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. These four positions are elected each spring and serve for a one year term. The Board does the planning for all Association activities at the monthly meetings. Some of the Home and School sponsored activities are the summer swim party, lunch for teachers, dances, talent show, special events during Catholic Schools' week, a special parent event, graduation and end of the year picnic. Contact any campus principal for more information.

  • Scrip - This is a year round fundraiser involving each Campus and three Parishes. There are many ways to get involved. You may be a runner once a month, enter data input at home, help out on Monday morning or Thursday afternoon, or do some of each. Scrip is always looking for more assistance. Call the Administrative Offices for more information at 896-2929, ext. 324.

  • Accelerated Reader - The purpose of this program is to promote reading. It helps the children improve their comprehension skills. Assistance at school is needed to monitor the testing room.

  • Collection Organizing - Campbell labels, Box Tops, Sentry cash register receipts, and Golden Guernsey milk tops are all collected. These items need to be sorted, counted and sent in for collection.

  • Eucharistic Minister - The children take an active roll in the children's liturgy each week at Mass. Parents are welcome to attend Mass at each campus. You may also participate by being an Eucharistic Minister or setting up for Mass.

  • Field Trips - Each classroom may go on one or more field trip a year. Depending on the destination they may need parent chaperones to assist. This varies for each class at each campus.

  • Forensic Coaches - Forensic Club is open to 6, 7, and 8th graders at St. Joseph Middle School. This Club is all about public speaking. Performances take place in Jan., Feb. and March. Practices start in December. Help coach Waukesha Catholic children or judge children from many different schools.

  • Home and School Campus Representatives - Each campus has two Home and School representatives that are responsible for their local campus activities. They also attend a monthly meeting and organize other volunteers.

  • Hot Lunch - Each campus offers students the opportunity to purchase a lunch a couple times a month. Volunteers are needed to serve the lunch. This involves a few hours over lunch time every few months.

  • Market Day - This project involves organizing the food that has been delivered and assisting parents with picking up their orders. A few hours once a month is all it takes.

  • Office Help - Each campus also needs assistance with weekly packet stuffing and making copies for the classrooms.

  • Room Parents - Each classroom has two room parents to help organize parties. This consists of a party at Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day. The room parent is also responsible for a class item which is donated from each class to the Auction each year.

  • Other One Day Events That Need Volunters - Fun Fair, Learn Fair, Dances, 6th grade retreat
